NLC 2017 City Fiscal Conditions survey released

DNR survey on city urban forestry

Municipal Excellence Award winner highlight
The City of Tenino recently won AWC's Municipal Excellence Award in the small city success category. Tenino received the award for this example of the positive change that can occur in a community when people step forward and provide leadership. After a several-year stretch of turbulence at city hall, Tenino worked to restore the city’s sense of self-worth. In this case, it was led by a new mayor who turned around not just the way city hall was operating, but the attitude of the residents. Watch this video to see how they did it. More

Grant available to reduce trespassing and safety risks on rail lines
The Federal Railroad Administration is initiating a "Pilot Grant Program" to benefit communities that are at high risk for rail trespassing related incidents and casualties. Award maximums are $150,000 and the deadline for applications is October 9. More
