Open government training for elected officials

The companion bills requiring open government training, SB 5964/HB 2121, have survived the first legislative cutoff having been voted out of their respective policy committees. The House Government Operations & Elections Committee added a requirement to HB 2121 that elected officials and public record officers receive records retentions training in addition to training on public records and open meetings. The Senate Governmental Operations Committee amended SB 5694 to make the training optional instead of mandatory.
