Cities see first marijuana revenue distributions

On September 30, cities and counties throughout Washington State received their first share of marijuana revenues. The Legislature amended Washington’s recreational marijuana law in 2015 to allow distributions of marijuana revenues to cities and counties who have not banned the sale, production and processing of the product. This was made possible through HB 2136, marijuana market reforms. Distributions will be made quarterly, are based on total actual retail sales within the jurisdiction from the prior fiscal year (July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015), and must be used for marijuana enforcement. For a detailed description of the distribution formula see here. For a list of the cities and counties receiving distributions see here.
