About this Conference

The WAPELRA Fall Conference is specifically designed to help public sector HR professionals and other practitioners involved in labor relations obtain legal updates, build skills and develop resources. In addition to a great line-up of educational sessions, the conference is an excellent opportunity to network and learn from your colleagues who are facing the same issues as you.

Who should attend

Human resources and labor relations professionals who represent management in cities, counties, special districts and state agencies. This conference is also suited to city clerks, supervisors, managers, administrators and department heads who deal with personnel and labor issues.

Conference times and agenda details

The conference kicks off with a Welcome Reception from 5:30 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 20 at the Kitsap Conference Center, which is located at 100 Washington Avenue, Bremerton, WA.

The main conference program starts at 8:30 am Thursday, September 21, and ends at noon on Friday, September 22.

Optional pre-conference sessions

NPELRA Labor Relations Academy I – The foundation of labor relations
Wednesday, September 20, 8 am – 4 pm

WAPELRA is pleased that NPELRA is offering its Labor Relations Academy I in conjunction with the WAPELRA Fall Conference this year. This session is part of NPELRA's innovative teaching program leading to professional certification as a Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP). This NPELRA event requires a separate registration fee ($299 for NPELRA members, $399 for non-members). Location and room reservations

This year’s Fall Conference will be held at the Kitsap Conference Center. WAPELRA has released our block of rooms. For hotel accommodations, please contact area hotels directly.

Hotel changes/cancellations

Guests are responsible for paying for their own accommodations. All changes and cancellations must be made directly with the hotel. The hotel must receive notice of cancellation at least 72 hours prior to the arrival date and a cancellation number must be obtained by the guest to avoid penalty charges for one night stay.

WAPELRA is not responsible for any penalty or no-show charges.

Scholarships
Members of RMSA are eligible for a scholarship which covers the cost of registration. Simply enter the campaign code WPRMSA the registration process. Please note that if you use this scholarship for more than one person, you will need to make separate transactions for each registration.

WCIA members are eligible for reimbursement for one registration, per entity. The reimbursement is limited to only the WAPELRA Fall Conference. Reimbursement will be available after the conference takes place. Click here for the reimbursement form or go to www.wciapool.org, click Education & Training and then click Training Reimbursements.

The deadline for submitting their reimbursement request to WCIA is Friday, December 15, 2017.

The conference registration fee includes workshop materials, Wednesday evening welcome reception, light breakfasts on Thursday and Friday, lunch and the reception on Thursday, coffee and snacks. Coffee and lunch are also provided for the pre-conference session.

If you are bringing a guest, you must follow the separate registration process. Guests may attend the receptions at no charge, but will be responsible for purchasing their own beverages.

A fee of $75 will be charged for cancellations made by August 21, 2017. Cancellations made after that date will require full payment; substitutions are welcome at any time for no additional cost.

How do I get an AWC username and password?

If you do not have an AWC username and password, you will need to create a new user account.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

For registrations made on-line, confirmation of registration can be printed or you may email it to your email account. The confirmation will be sent to the email address shown in the registration section. If you book a hotel during the registration process, a separate confirmation will be emailed to you.
