These rural communities peppered throughout the state rely on their natural resources—agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting—and/or manufacturing. Unlike many other communities throughout the state, these cities experienced very little population growth over the past ten years. In some cases, cities lost population. These cities lack employment opportunities as well as amenities for residents, including high speed telecommunications, for example. All data is recorded as an average for all cities in the cluster.
