An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides short-term, confidential counseling for you and your family. If needed, the EAP can also provide referrals to mental health professionals for more extensive, ongoing treatment. EAP counselors can help you with many issues, including financial and legal issues.
Yes. All discussions between you and the EAP counselor are confidential. Personal information is never shared with anyone, including your employer, without your direct knowledge and approval. (Exceptions are made only in cases governed by law to protect individuals threatened by violence.)
Personal problems are a part of everyone’s life. Some of these problems become too big to be solved alone and can interfere with job performance or with home life. Asking for help can be the first step toward resolving a problem and a positive way to overcome a negative situation.
The EAP can also be used as a resource for supervisors. The EAP is available to provide consultation and support for those who manage or supervise others.
Yes. The benefits of the EAP are free of charge to the user.
Using the EAP is easy. You can contact the EAP provider – ComPysch – by calling: 1-800-570-9315. You can call anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The counselor on the phone will ask brief questions about the issue you are working on, as well as what city would be most convenient to see a counselor.
Many issues are resolved with short-term counseling, and there is no out-of-pocket expense for these services. At other times, you and your EAP counselor may decide a referral to an outside professional or community agency would be beneficial.
If a referral is made, the EAP counselor works with you to ensure you receive the help you need and makes every effort to direct you to professionals whose services are covered by your insurance plan. You may be responsible for costs outside your EAP, if a referral is made.
Your EAP also provides you with access to a consultation with a qualified attorney on legal matters and a consultation with a financial consultant free of charge. If you require ongoing legal services, a referral to a local attorney at a discounted rate will be given.
The EAP is available to you and your immediate family, including your dependent children and anyone living in your household. Individuals in your family may call for assistance for themselves or for another family member.
Supervisors are encouraged to refer employees to EAP services when work performance may be affected by personal problems. The decision to use the EAP is voluntary and confidential. Supervisors cannot receive feedback regarding an individual’s involvement in the program without written authorization from the employee.
Feel free to call AWC Trust staff at 1-800-562-8981 for any questions on your EAP benefits.
