Risk Management Services Program Manager

The Association of Washington Cities, a private non-profit corporation, is seeking a risk management professional to fill the newly created position of Program Manager for the Association of Washington Cities Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA), a public entity created under Chapter 48.62 RCW for the purpose of pooling self-insured losses and jointly purchasing excess insurance and administrative services in connection with a joint protection program for member cities and towns and other local governmental entities in Washington state. The RMSA is a valuable member service program with the primary goal of providing quality property and liability coverage at the best rate possible for members and to provide ongoing customer service in order to assist them in eliminating or reducing exposures.

The purpose of this position is to provide ongoing leadership and manage the day-to-day operation of the Risk Management Service Agency. This position reports to the Director of Member Services and is expected to be knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of municipal liability and property insurance issues. This person will manage both the claims department and loss control functions of the agency and will be primarily responsible for business retention and new business development.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Insurance or a related field. Five years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in risk management in a public agency, including two years of supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Experience in claims litigation management, past experience in supervising a team of employees, valid Washington State driver’s license required.

Salary range

mid $80’s annually, DOQ. Excellent benefits package.
