Certificate of Municipal Leadership

To receive the Certificate of Municipal Leadership, an elected official must complete a workshop in each of the competencies below and complete a total of 30 credits. A minimum of 5 credits in each competency is highly recommended.

  • Roles, responsibilities and legal requirements (R)
  • Public sector resource management (P)
  • Community planning and development (C)
  • Effective local leadership (E)

Starting with the 2011 workshops, courses reflected in an elected official’s record will display which core area was met.

AWC strives to offer training in the competencies above through a variety of different methods including in-person training and webinars. Each workshop announcement will reflect competency area and credits achieved.
