A local government’s budget document is one of the most important documents you have. It’s more than a bunch of numbers – it’s your primary tool for prioritizing and addressing your community’s needs.
The annual Municipal Budgeting and Fiscal Management workshop is designed for elected officials and staff from local governments who have a role in developing or implementing the budget. The workshop is designed to give both the novice and the expert budgeter skills to enhance their budget document, by weaving in performance measures, understanding how to spot red flags early, and engaging citizens so city priorities reflect the greater community.
Who should attend?
The workshop is designed for elected officials and staff from cities and counties. Officials from special purpose districts may also find the workshop useful. The training is targeted towards elected officials, department heads and staff with a role in developing or implementing the budget. Teams of staff are encouraged to attend.
