Assess yourself. Explore your city’s economic development strengths and weaknesses.
The National League of Cities and the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy at Northeastern University are announcing a joint program, the Economic Development Toolkit. The first tool is the Economic Development Self Assessment Tool (EDSAT), designed to help local officials become leaders and advocates for economic development.
To stay ahead of the competition, cities must:
- Surmount the “deal breakers” within their control that discourage economic growth and opportunity;
- Enhance the power of local officials to make positive changes in policies;
- Raise the level of local and regional collaboration; and
- Better enable their communities to compete for critically needed private sector investment.
Hear from Dr. Barry Bluestone, Director of the Dukakis Center and Dean of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs about EDSAT, about a tool that will help you evaluate or develop your city’s strategies for attracting local investment.

This workshop is for city elected officials, managers/administrators, community planning and economic development staff.
