Going Green – Sustaining Edmonds, Edmonds

“Sustaining Edmonds” is a shining example of what a community can do when its leaders are committed to institutionalizing change. It started with the Mayor’s Climate Protection Committee, which led to a community sustainability element in the city’s comprehensive plan, which was then followed by a climate action plan and a comprehensive energy plan. The Green Team kicked into action, tackling everything from changing photocopier paper consumption to retrofitting building HVAC or lighting systems. The city hosts one of Puget Sound’s first community solar installations. And that is just the beginning.
