About RMSA
AWC RMSA serves the property and liability needs of small to medium cities and towns in Washington. RMSA is a member run, member owned pool. Members pay assessments based on worker hours, populations and losses. Members receive comprehensive risk management that helps stabilize insurance costs, and minimizes loss exposures through risk-sharing and joint indemnification of losses.
We’ve been providing property and liability coverage to Washington’s cities and towns since 1989. Here’s an overview of our history.
- 1987 – Feasibility study completed on AWC sponsoring a property & liability pool.
- 1988 – AWC Board of Directors approves the Risk Management Service Agency, created under RCW 48.62.031.
- 1989 – January 1 – RMSA open for business!
Mission statement

Members
RMSA insures Washington cities and towns, focusing on small to medium size jurisdictions. Special purpose districts are also eligible for coverage. Current member roster.
Assessment

Taking care of you
Our staff provides claims investigation and processing, litigation management, customer service and a full service loss control program. Semi-annual on-site loss control visits are provided and periodic online updates.
