New mini-grant process

Congratulations to everyone who used their 2016-2017 mini-grant by the July 1 deadline. The healthy activities (smoothie days, kayaking lessons, pinewood derbies, employee gardens…) you fund with these grants inspire real wellness!

As most of you know, your wellness program can qualify for a mini-grant each year. This year, to align with other AWC program changes, the mini-grant program is changing too.

Here’s the biggest change: Because 50% HQ completion is no longer a WellCity Award requirement, qualifying for the mini-grant will no longer be based on 50% HQ completion.

Going forward, to earn the grant 50% of your eligible participants (employees plus spouses with Trust medical plans) must earn their Wellness Reward. (This year, earning the Wellness Reward requires scoring at least 350 points in the new Health Central).

School year to calendar year

One other change to note: The mini-grant program is transitioning from a “school-year” timeline to a calendar-year timeline. Instead of earning it in one year and spending it in the next, you’ll qualify for the grant and spend it all in the same year.
