Mini-grant program changes

Congratulations to the 107 Trust members that used almost $50,000 in mini-grant money to plant employee gardens, do healthy cooking demonstrations, create private break rooms, buy employee bicycles, and much, much more! Thirty-one members chose not to use their grants, leaving about $7,000 on the table.

With the close of the 2015-16 grant season, it’s time to focus on the next round of mini-grants. Yes, you can earn a mini-grant every year! As soon as you reach 50% participation on this year’s Health Questionnaire you can use your grant. The deadline for reaching 50% is December 31, but you have until July 1, 2017 to use your 2016-17 grant.

One important change to note: The “double mini-grant” promotion that was offered the past two years for reaching 50% by September 1 is no longer available. Your 2016-17 mini-grant will be in the amount of $5 per Trust-insured employee, with a minimum of $50 and maximum of $500.

Another change to be aware of is that following the 2016-17 grant cycle, the mini-grant program will transition to being a calendar year program. Beginning in 2017 you can earn your mini-grant anytime between January 1 and October 1, and spend it anytime between January 1 and December 31.
