Flu shot coverage - Group Health

Group Health – Flu shot coverage FAQ’s

Every week day is flu clinic day at the 25 Group Health Medical Centers facilities. Vaccine is available from 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. No appointment needed. The CDC recommends that everyone over 6 months of age receive the flu vaccine.

There are two reasons for getting a yearly flu vaccine:

  • Because flu viruses are constantly changing, flu vaccines may be updated from one season to the next to protect against the most recent and most commonly circulating viruses.
  • Annual vaccination is recommended because a person’s immune protection from vaccination declines over time and annual vaccination is needed for optimal protection.

Patients who don't get care at a Group Health Medical Centers facility

Group Health members who live in areas not served by Group Health Medical Centers should ask their primary care doctor's office about getting the flu vaccine. Another option is to get the vaccine from a community pharmacy contracted with Group Health, or at clinic pharmacy not contracted with Group Health get reimbursed for the cost.

For information about reimbursement, call customer service or download the form here. All Group Health members are welcome at any Group Health medical centers facility.

How do I find where to get flu vaccine if I don't get care at a Group Health Medical Center?

Check with your primary care doctor's office first. If your doctor isn't giving flu vaccinations, you can find a list of contracted pharmacies using the Group Health Provider Directory. Just show your Group Health ID Card. There is no cost share.

You can also get the vaccine from a non-contracted pharmacy or clinic and pay out-of-pocket. Group Health will reimburse the cost, less any applicable cost share or copay.

How do I request reimbursement if I pay up front at a pharmacy or other location?

Group Health members can receive the flu vaccine from any licensed provider and be reimbursed for the cost, less any required cost share. Just pay for the vaccination and submit the receipt. Information is online or call customer service toll-free at 1-888-901-4636.
