Is Your 2015 Operating Plan Complete?

The method of the enterprising is to plan with audacity and execute with vigor, to sketch out a map of possibilities and then treat them as probabilities. Bovee

Last fall’s Healthy Worksite Summit was our unofficial kick-off party for the 2015 “Planning Season.” We talked about what the AWC Trust has in store for 2015 and encouraged you to begin outlining your new wellness year.

Since then, during your annual planning retreat or at your past few committee meetings, you’ve likely been crafting your 2015 plan. Is it complete and entered in eWellCity? If the 2016 WellCity Award is your goal, plan to finish your 2015 operating plan by the end of March.

Working through the operating plan process helps your wellness committee be intentional about designing the program. During this process you:

  • Review your vision and mission.
  • Study results from the Health Questionnaire, interest surveys, participant evaluations, and other sources of data about your population, workplace, and program.
  • Revise long-term goals if appropriate.
  • Select activities for the year and set objectives.
  • Establish a timeline/calendar.
  • Develop a budget.
  • Identify communication strategies.
  • Develop an evaluation and reporting plan.

Imagine how great it will feel to have your entire wellness year all mapped out and entered in eWellCity by the end of March! When the plan is complete share a copy with your leadership team and give employees a calendar of all the great wellness activities you’ve planned for the year!

For help developing your operating plan or entering it in eWellCity, contact any of the Trust’s health promotion team. You’ll also find a chapter about operating plans in the Workplace Wellness Planner and a corresponding webinar in our on-demand webinar library.
