Web postings of regular meeting agendas

Government data sharing

Next week, the House Government Operations & Elections Committee will hear HB 2202, which would require most state agencies to catalog their public data sets and create a timeline for making them available on a state-developed open data portal.

AWC public records priority

Last month, the Ruckelshaus Center released its Situation Assessment of Public Records Requests to Local Governments, which was funded through a legislative budget proviso last year.

Cost recovery for commercial records requests

AWC is also supporting a bill, HB 1037, allowing the state and local governments to charge a fee to recover the actual cost of providing a public record if the request is for sale or resale.

Although a majority of legislators were supporting AWC’s priority public records bill, HB 1128, House leadership did not allow the bill to come to the floor for a full vote by Wednesday’s cutoff.

Hours of availability for inspection and copying of public records

Next week, the Senate Governmental Operations Committee will hear SHB 1418, which allows cities, towns, and special districts that do not maintain office hours for a minimum of 30 hours per week to post directions about how to make public records requests.
