The House version of the Washington Voting Rights Act, HB 1413, will be heard in the Senate Governmental Operations Committee next week.

Fees for electronic financial reporting

The proposal to establish a mandatory electronic filing system for elected officials, political committees, and lobbyists to report to the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) failed to make it out of the House this week and is likely dead for the year.

Priority public records bill fails to pass House

Although a majority of legislators were supporting AWC’s priority public records bill, HB 1128, House leadership did not allow the bill to come to the floor for a full vote by Wednesday’s cutoff.

Hours of availability for inspection and copying of public records

Next week, the Senate Governmental Operations Committee will hear SHB 1418, which allows cities, towns, and special districts that do not maintain office hours for a minimum of 30 hours per week to post directions about how to make public records requests.
