Bill seeks authority to set speed limits for trains carrying hazardous flammable materials

HB 1498/SB 5098 would authorize the Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) and first class cities to seek a preemption waiver from the United States Department of Transportation for a speed limit reduction for high-hazard flammable trains in certain circumstances.
