Red-light camera images may be available via warrant to law enforcement

Traffic cameras, or red-light cameras, have often been a topic before the Legislature. HB 1047 allows for records, photographs, and electronic images recorded by traffic cameras to be made available to law enforcement with a search warrant. Law enforcement would need to have appropriate evidence to submit for a warrant from a judge before gaining access to these photos. AWC supports this effort and believes that privacy issues will be addressed by the warrant requirement. This bill is scheduled for a public hearing in the House Public Safety Committee at 1:30pm on January 23.
