Get Ready for Online Lodging Tax Reporting

The 2013 legislation that maintained most uses of lodging tax revenue, HB 1253, requires cities and counties with a lodging tax to make annual reports to the Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee (JLARC) instead of the Department of Commerce.

JLARC initially issued a draft lodging tax reporting form that many cities and counties reviewed and provided comments. Based on those comments, JLARC began development of a web-based reporting system. The system was recently launched, and final reporting is due no later than March 15, 2015. Instructions for accessing the system are in this recent JLARC memo to cities and counties.

On December 15, AWC and the Washington State Association of Counties are hosting a webinar about the new reporting. The webinar will cover:

  • What, where, and when you need to report
  • How to access the new online reporting system
  • Who can help with questions and technical assistance

The webinar is free to cities and counties. Register here.
