Honoring Our Hometown Champions

In another first, we’re selecting the inaugural recipients of AWC’s Hometown Champion Award. This award is our way of showing appreciation to legislators who have demonstrated strong support for city issues over the past two legislative sessions.

The intent of the Hometown Champions Award is to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of legislators who have championed critical city issues over the past two sessions; including advocating for: liquor revenue, transportation funding/reforms, and restoration of the Public Works Trust Fund; and working towards clarity surrounding implementation of the recreational marijuana initiative and allocating expected tax revenues. Equally, if not even more important, we want to recognize legislators who worked to stop unfunded mandates, or tried to maintain appropriate local control.

Hometown Champions will receive a certificate of appreciation, and a small token of our gratitude. If your legislative district is home to one of our champions, we’ll ask you to make the awards presentation. As the Hometown Champions Award program continues, we hope every city or town encourages their legislators to finds ways to demonstrate a champion’s attitude.

Keep on the lookout for more ways AWC will be connecting you and your legislators!
