Bill addresses possession of a firearm in cases of domestic violence and other assaults.

HB 1840 addresses unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree for certain cases involving domestic violence. A person could not have a firearm if they are shown to be a credible threat to the physical safety of a person and have a protection order against them for domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, or if they are engaged in child custody or legal separation proceedings.
