Marijuana producers limited to one license

The Liquor Control Board (LCB) announced today they will limit the number of marijuana producer licenses. Before today’s changes, an individual producer could have multiple producer licenses, now an individual producer can only have one. This is largely a result of the Department of Justice’s enforcement guidelines issued in August, 2013 that called for a tightly regulated and controlled market. Additionally, the Board announced that they will issue licenses regardless of any local moratoria or ban. This is consistent with the approach the LCB has been taking. They will only issue licenses based on state rules and regulations. For a copy of the press release, click here. The LCB is saying the first producer license will be issued March 1, 2014 with retail stores opening sometime this summer.
