Another quiet session for energy

It was another relatively quiet legislative session in the energy field. Once again there were proposals to modify specific provisions of Initiative 937 (the Energy Independence Act) but nothing of substance ended up passing. Rep. Jeff Morris advanced a bill (HB 1374) that would have made significant changes to the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) statutes including significant changes to the siting process that were of concern to cities. After advancing from the House, the bill failed to receive a hearing in the Senate and did not advance. Other bills we followed are summarized below.
