Don’t forget to submit lodging tax reports by May 1

Cities have been asking whether lodging tax reports need to be submitted to the Department of Commerce this year. While the Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee completed its assessment of lodging tax uses last year, state law currently requires cities with a lodging tax to submit an annual economic report by May 1. We encourage you to fulfill this reporting requirement - instructions for completing the report can be found here.

This reporting requirement sunsets on June 30, 2013. However, AWC and other stakeholders are working hard to pass HB 1253. In addition to maintaining most of the current uses of lodging tax revenues, the bill would require cities and counties to submit recipient reporting forms to JLARC by December 31 each year.
