AWC priority public record bill faces opposition

AWC, in partnership with other local government groups, continues to advocate for HB 1128, which is designed to protect other essential local services from public record abuses. As we work with legislators to refine the bill, editorials expressing opposition to the bill are being printed in newspapers across the state, including The Columbian, The Seattle Times, and The Spokesman-Review.

These editorials reinforce how important it is for city officials to talk to legislators about how much local governments need these protections from abusive and harassing requestors. Even if you have already done so, please contact your representatives to set the record straight on how much we need this bill and how public record abuses negatively impact open government.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact AWC’s Candice Bock or Serena Dolly.
