Community solar and green jobs

AWC testified on the original version HB 1301 on behalf of the City of Ellensburg. Other cities interested in community solar or other renewable energy facilities will want to pay attention to this proposal. The bill is intended to grandfather in projects such as Ellensburg’s to allow them to continue to receive a credit against the state public utility tax. However, the intent seems to be to disqualify future utility-sponsored renewable generation facilities from tax credits. The bill’s proponents have stated they are interested in changing this program to move away from demonstration projects. A new draft is being circulated and some stakeholder meetings have occurred. Please contact Victoria Lincoln or Dave Catterson at AWC if you have comments or interest in this proposal.
