Cities Sewer Funding Coalition

The Sewer Fund Coalition was formed in 2014 to bring awareness to our state legislators about the financial burden cities are faced with when trying to meet the current standards set by the Department of Ecology. In the past, grant money was made available through the Department’s Centennial Clean Water Fund to help those jurisdictions who lack the financial capacity to make needed improvements. Unfortunately, this fund, like so many others, is growing smaller and state budget pressures may shrink it further.

The coalition’s board comprised of Shelton Mayor Gary Cronce, South Bend Mayor Julie Struck, and Othello Mayor Shawn Logan, is seeking interest from cities facing similar challenges. AWC is supportive of securing increased funding and welcomes additional cities engaging in this effort. More coalition members are needed to speak to your legislators and legislative candidates about these real needs.

If you are interested in joining or would like additional information about this no-cost effort, please contact Shelton Mayor Gary Cronce at (360) 545-5503.
