Bill providing continuity of care for recipients of Medicaid passes Legislature

SB 6430, sponsored by Sen. Linda Evans Parlette (R-Wenatchee), successfully passed the Legislature. In the House Appropriations Committee the bill was amended requiring that it be funded in the final budget, or it is null and void. The Senate will need to concur with this amendment before the bill moves to the Governor’s desk for signature.

HB 6430 comes out of recommendations of the Adult Behavioral Health Task Force and would suspend, rather than terminate, Medicaid medical assistance benefits for persons who are incarcerated by July 1, 2017.

AWC has been very supportive of this legislation. To read more about the bill details see here.
