State energy strategy

HB 2826 originally would have repealed the requirement of the state energy office to prepare a state energy strategy document. However, the bill was amended to move the responsibility of preparing a state energy strategy to a newly-created Washington State Energy Strategy Council. The Council would consist of six legislators and a representative of the executive branch, and would be coordinated by the Department of Commerce. The proposal would also require the Council to develop a state energy strategy annually and to report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature by December 31 of each year. The bill is currently in the Rules Committee.
