Reasonable accommodations for pregnant women

HB 2307 requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related health conditions, unless the accommodation would impose an undue hardship on the employer's business. A substitute version of the bill passed the House of Representatives on a 52 – 45 vote.

One of the major differences between the original bill and the passed substitute is the state agency designated to handle complaints. The original bill allowed employees to file complaints with the Washington State Human Rights Commission; the substitute version gives the State Attorney General authority to investigate complaints.
