Requiring PEBB to accept small political subdivisions

Last week, the Senate Ways & Means Committee heard SB 6475, which would require the Public Employees' Benefit Board health care program to accept cities, counties, and other political subdivisions with fewer than 5,000 employees. The proposal allows the state to develop a rate surcharge for these entities to offset any increased costs to the state or state employees. AWC has been supportive of this proposal that is a priority bill for the Washington State Association of Counties.
