Cities show support for restoring local liquor revenue

This week AWC’s priority bills to gradually restore local liquor revenue, HB 2438/SB 6425, were each heard in committee. We were fortunate to have ample city officials in town for the AWC Board of Directors meeting and City Action Days when the hearings took place. Thank you to the many city officials who expressed support to their legislators, and we are especially appreciative of those who testified in support of the bills: Mayor Pat Johnson, Buckley; Mayor Sean Guard, Washougal; Mayor Bernie Talmas, Woodinville; City Manager John Caulfield, Lakewood; City Administrator Doug Merriman, Oak Harbor; and Police Chief Bryan Jeter, Puyallup. The House Commerce & Gaming Committee has already scheduled a vote on the House version for next week.
