L&I adopts workers’ comp rate increases for 2016

The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) announced its workers’ compensation rate increases in September and formally adopted the rates this month. Overall, the average increase is 2 percent, but for cities and counties the increase is much higher. Here are the 2016 increases:

AWC has expressed concerns with the double-digit rate increases, asked for more information about how the rates are set, and requested L&I partner with cities to minimize future rate increases. AWC staff recently met with L&I and committed to continue working together to look for opportunities to reduce claims and costs.
