Senate to hear bill authorizing cities to set reduced speed limits

On January 29 at 3:30pm, the Senate Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing on SB 5066, which is the companion to HB 1045. The House version of the bill was passed out of the House Transportation Committee on January 24. These bills would allow cities and towns to establish a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour on a non-arterial highway, or part of a non-arterial highway that is within a residence district or business district, without having to conduct a traffic or engineering study. AWC supports this bill.
