Maintaining expanded uses of lodging taxes

This AWC priority bill maintains the current uses for local hotel-motel, or lodging, tax revenue. In 2007, the Legislature granted the following new uses:

  • Funding the operation of special events and/or festivals designed to attract tourists (as opposed to “marketing”); and
  • Funding the operations and capital expenditures of tourism-related facilities owned by non-profit organizations.

The 2007 legislation contained a sunset (or expiration) date of June 30, 2013, and this bill removes that sunset.

The bill will be heard in the House Finance Committee on at 1:30pm on January 28.
